About

The Amherst Center for Senior Services is a vibrant community hub dedicated to enhancing the lives of adults 50 and older. We connect older adults with vital programs and resources to help you stay healthy, active, and independent.

We offer a variety of programs and services including: Nutrition, health, fitness, and wellness programs; information & assistance; transportation services, public benefits counseling, employment assistance, volunteer opportunities, social and recreational activities, education and arts programs, and intergenerational programs in partnership with the Amherst Youth & Recreation Department.

Our Center is reinventing itself to meet the needs and desires of the aging baby boom generation. Boomers now constitute more than two-thirds of the 50+ population.

Research shows that older adults who participate in senior programs can learn to manage or delay the onset of chronic disease and experience measurable improvements in their physical, social, spiritual, emotional, mental, and economic well-being.

Nutrition Support

Programs

Stay active and healthy with our range of fitness classes suitable for all levels. From gentle yoga to strength training, there's something for everyone to enjoy and benefit from.

Support

The Center has a Social Caseworker available to meet with members on a one-on-one basis to provide assistance with personal and family concerns during the Center’s business hours.

The Social Caseworker can also provide information on referrals to community-based programs and services.

NEW CAFE AND GIFT SHOP COMING TO THE CENTER!

We’re thrilled to share that renovations for our brand-new cafe, located in the former Craft Room, are nearly finished! This beautiful new space is designed to be a welcoming spot for the community to gather, relax, and enjoy delicious food and beverages.

As of June 2025, the Town of Amherst has officially issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a cafe operator. If you're interested in becoming a part of this exciting new chapter or have questions about the RFP process, please reach out directly to the Town of Amherst for more information.
